Sacred Postpartum
Postpartum is the poor relation of the birth world. We celebrate the glorious full bloom bellies then drop our attention in the aftermath, when it is needed the most. I pray for the pillars of postpartum care: rest, nourishment, bodywork and community support to once again be restored as an absolute necessity, not a luxury. May we move to a culture that cherishes and nurtures mothers in their fourth trimester; to heal, bond and fall in love. The well-being of the mother is the regulating heartbeat of the home. Mothers birthing in their undisturbed sovereign power and being supported to thrive in their golden month has the power to change our world.
